Folded Corners Quilt Update

I don't get on here too much but when I do, I try to have something awesome to show you!

I finished piecing my Folded Corners Block Quilt and I am so thrilled with how it looks!

So, this quilt is just too big for me, I have an autoimmune disorder and it leaves my muscles very weak, I cannot imagine trying to quilt on it, so I am going to have it long armed and I am okay with that! lol I will still be doing the binding myself. My son and his fiance cannot wait to start sleeping under this but it will be a few more months of waiting for them yet.

I also finished my sister's disappearing 9-patch couch quilt!

I could not get my camera to work right..it's pretty washed out, here is a pic of the true colors

She loves it and it is the perfect size for her to cuddle up while watching a movie...

I am feeling fairly guilty when I see snow was on the ground in this photo and I haven't updated my blog in so long. I will try to do better.

That is all I have for you today! Thanks for stopping by!

Another Baby Quilt Completed!

I had hoped to be a much more active quilter. Unfortunately, I have a muscle issue (high enzymes) that causes fatigue within a few minutes while I do anything. I am on medication for it, but it only helps so much. So, I do what I can when I am feeling up to it.

I have a grand-daughter due on New Years Eve!! I did manage to finish a quilt for her and it is so girly and pink!

I will start with working photos and then the one where she is holding it up.

I decided to do quick and easy, random placement of half square triangles.

getting there....

quilted and bound

some different angles..love every fabric in this.

My son and his fiance (whom I adore) In this photo, he touched it, looked at me and said "You made this Mom?" Like I haven't been quilting for the past 3 years and it is a complete shock to him..haha

This is the quilt in the crib :) They love it.

I have finished sewing the backing together for this quilt
The top measures 104 x 92 inches. Call me crazy..should have been done a long time ago, but alas..
Tomorrow, my Mom comes over and we are going to get it sandwiched. This one is for my oldest son, then I have one more large one to make for the couple above and after that..I think I will stick to couch quilts..lol

Thank you for letting me share with you!

My To-do pile grows....

This is a Disappearing 9-Patch. It is the very first quilt I attempted at the end of 2014. Because I was starting to quilt, I received a bunch of gift certificates for Christmas and went shopping and this fell to the wayside. I never leave a project unfinished even if it takes me years to get back to it. *cough*

So, I am finishing this up and will be gifting it to my younger sister once I have it all quilted...but it IS in line. I still have to finish Zack's black, red, gray and white quilt first. I am ordering the batting for that next week! This is all fabric my Mom had given me, and the red fabric was left over from kitchen curtains I had made.

Next!

I am so loving this one. I saw one kind of like it on Pinterest. Without the pattern (Pancakes by Tula Pink), I said.."I can do this!" And so I am...all the fabric was already in my stash :) My blocks are 3.5x5 inches. I am not sure if I used the correct measurements..but close enough!

At this point, the light green blocks were starting to have an optical illusion effect which was really cool. They are light enough that with the white corners, they appear to be going in the opposite direction sometimes. They look as if they are tumbling around. Everyone who sees it has been saying it messes with their eyes a bit. Didn't expect it..but so glad it is happening..how fun is that?!

I have a few more rows to put on, then some borders and this too will get in line for sandwiching and quilting.
This will be another gift for my cousin who helped me out so much when I tore my meniscus in my knee and had surgery.
She always appreciates what I am working on so I know she will value it as I value her.

That is all I have! thank you so much for stopping by, comments are welcome!

Working on a finish!

I started this quilt, my first in January 2015 when I actually began this new to me craft of quilting.
I had picked up 2 jelly rolls from Joanne's that were on sale, I think for $5.00 a roll. A steal, I know!
So I decided on something simple...
I did not know it at the time, this is called the Rail Fence block.
So I cut....

and I sewed and laid it all out...

Then I sewed again until my top panel was together.

I even let the dogs check it out, they think anything on the floor is for them.

Then I folded it up and started working on other quilts until I pulled it out a few days ago and decided to finish it and gift it to my sister when it is done. I added 2 borders. yes, I know I could have gone all the way around with the white first then all the way around with the green and that is how I have been completing my borders, but this time, I went  with doing it this way. I like how the white just stands out and goes to the end like that on all 4 corners.

I do have it sandwiched, with batting and backing on now...
I will surprise you with the final quilt as soon as it is finished!!
Thanks for stopping in!!

One more column to go...

Hello!
Whew! We had quite the snow storm last night! It took my husband 3 hours to get home from 23 miles away (Syracuse)! Here is a pic of what was outside my window at about 4:30 pm:

This was taken with my flash but it doesn't look as bad as it looked through my eyes without the camera. Anyway..glad he finally made it home. :)

I worked more on my Layer Cake Sampler quilt :) I only have one column left to add and a border around for the top of the quilt. What do you think?

Thank you for stopping in and I hope the sun is shining where ever you are!

My First Jelly Roll Quilt

Hello!
So, I ran out of yellow fabric for my Layer Cake Sampler and decided to work with the two jelly rolls I had purchased while I waited to go to the fabric store again to get my yellow.

I am not sure of the brand name of these rolls, the front of the tag says Batik Jelly, while the back says Batik Jelly Roll Coral Red. They were on sale, I grabbed them as I had been seeing quilts made with jelly rolls on Pinterest and knew I wanted to try!

I just did my own thing with these which I am sure is a common layout.
This pic is before I squared them to 6x6 inches

This is after squaring them all and sewing the strips together.

Then that evening, after shopping for my yellow fabric and picking up a few more yards to start my stash..I sewed the strips together. This is what I have so far!  It is a lap/couch size...I am going to make it a little bigger with some borders. Still coming up with a plan for that!

I took this pic before the one above and could not get these "helpers"
to help by staying off..they had to check it out!

Here are the two new fabrics I picked up

Thanks for stopping in to check out my progress! I'm learning!
